Executive Council

Elaine Okal, Wake Vice Chair

Regional Vice Chairs assist the First Vice Chair with planning and organizing meetings, provide direct support and guidance to precinct officers in their region, and assist the Chair in candidate outreach and party building in their region.

From Elaine:
I have been active and working in WCDP since 2017 serving as Precinct Vice Chair and Chair in an unincorporated area in south east Wake County. For the last two years I have served as co District Coordinator in the Southern Springs District. During the 2020 general election I managed the WCDP Yard Sign Shop.

I have participated in many WCDP activities that have allowed me to meet and work with the marvelous volunteers and candidates in Wake County and across the state. The sense of community the party provides is positive and supportive. But now It’s time to share this positive support with like-minded constituents through action and active engagement.

In the role of Wake County Vice Chair, I have a plan that engages our constituents with our communities. We do this through lifting up our community leaders and community events and provide community engagement opportunities for our constituents both new and old.

By focusing on community and issues, I know we can elect more Democrats to county, state and federal offices following the model and example of Stacey Abrams’ groundbreaking work in Georgia.
